4 New Self Storage Facilities Planned on Kauai

Pacific Business News reports that Kauai is experiencing something of a self-storage boom, with at least four new facilities planned on the Garden Isle this year.

The owners of Guardian Self Storage on Kauai have plans to convert a former Foodland store at the Waipouli Town Center into a self-storage facility of 700 units, after purchasing the shopping center from Alexander & Baldwin last fall.

U-Haul affiliate Amerco bought 11 acres from the Weinberg Foundation in December for $13.25 million and has plans to build a U-Haul center and self-storage facility on the land, which is between Walmart and Wilcox Medical Center in Lihue.

At A&B’s Safeway-anchored Hokulei Village, Baranof Holdings Land Development LLC plans to build a self-storage facility on 2.54 acres adjacent to the shopping center.

Guardian Self Storage also recently received approval from the Kauai Planning Commission to add additional storage facilities to the existing 3.45-acre Kalapaki property.
