Kauai's Direct Alaska Airlines Fights to Resume in April

Kauai will be rejoining the state’s Safe Travels program on April 5th and Alaska Airlines will be resuming service to the Island. The airline plans to relaunch two daily flights from Seattle to Lihue beginning April 5th. Alaska previously operated flights connecting Lihue with Portland, San Jose, and San Diego in addition to Seattle, but suspended all Kauai routes in early December when the island opted out of the pre-travel testing program. Governor David Ige approved Kauai’s request to rejoin the program for transpacific travel, last week. “With Kauai rejoining the state’s Safe Travels program on April 5th, we anticipate that travel demand to Kauai will gradually return, and our local team members are looking forward to safely welcoming back travelers to/from our Seattle hub,” Daniel Chun, Alaska Airlines’ director of sales, community and public relations. Alaska Airlines is currently operating 17 daily flights to three islands from six cities on the West Coast, down from more than 29 daily flights to four islands from nine cities pre-Covid.
