What's Namahana School?
Namahana School is the first public, tuition-free middle and high school for children on the North Shore of KauaÊ»i—a dream that’s been decades in the making. Our keiki have historically faced school commutes of up to 3 hours per day. Namahana is changing that.
Why Now?
This Fall, we are opening our doors to our first 7th and 8th graders at a temporary facility while construction is initiated on our permanent site in KÄ«lauea. We’ve already raised $8 million towards our $10 million goal (or approximately 80% of the funding needed) to build essential middle school classrooms. We need your help to cross the finish line by June 30!
This initial phase is critical to getting our students into permanent classrooms as soon as possible. As a public charter school in HawaiÊ»i, Namahana receives per-student funding once operational—but no funding for facilities. That means we must rely on generous community support to get our classrooms built.
Every donation and share brings us closer to bringing our permanent middle and high school campus to life, and to a future where generations of students can thrive with an innovative education close to home.
